Palazzo Starace

Me and teenage daughter enjoyed this charming and nice hotel with a fantastic host couple. Very good location in Sorrento.

The Palazzo Starace is very old but beautiful like many buildings in Italy. If you are expecting contemporary luxury, this is not for you. If you like the old world classic, it's perfect. It is also a perfect central location, where you are on the main street in Sorrento with convenient access to many restaurants and local attractions. We loved meandering through the many stone alleyways and gift shops. If you are on the street side, as others have mentioned it is quite noisy at night till quite late. It's happy noise as everyone is having a great time in this city. You cannot reach the front door by vehicle- but must get dropped off at Plaza Tasso. No problem because our host met us at the Plaza Tasso so we would not have difficulty finding it. Quick, very short walk to the Palazzo. Luciana and Margherita were wonderful hosts as well as the housekeeper (didn't get her name) who went above and beyond for us. We had a bit of a difficulty one morning and they were so kind and supportive. Thank you!! We also booked a private boat with Captain and mate to Capri through the hosts and it was a FANTASTIC experience!! Highly recommend. Please note that there is a lift for luggage but no elevator. There are many beautiful marble stairs even for the first level of rooms- so be aware if you have difficulty with stairs. We were a mixed age family of 10 and the younger ones were up higher so it was not an issue for us. The rooms are quite basic but clean. There was a tea water heater and tea bags only. There was shampoo, a shower cap and q tips but no soap. Shampoo was also on the sink so perhaps that is meant for body wash as well. Housekeeping came daily and made the beds and provided plenty of towels. The beds were comfortable, however, the sheets quite scratchy. The bottom sheet was not fitted so it pulled out all the time. Also no mattress pad on the bed. This is one improvement I hope they would consider to improve to a 5 star review. The air conditioning is on the wall, not central but we were cool even during 90+ daytime temperatures. Breakfast consisted of vouchers for a nearby café. The menu was somewhat limited but we found it perfect and the staff were above and beyond wonderful. Palazzo Starace is a beautiful Old Italy B and B- the whole family loved it and we would stay again.

We stayed three nights. Spacious clean and fresh room with great staff. Breakfast at a location downstairs and it was fabulous. Perfect location to all. Sorrento beautiful!
