A lovely hidden gem! Lovely clean hotel with spacious rooms, we stayed on the first floor with huge balcony overlooking the pool. The balcony had a table and chairs and two sunbeds and the views were fabulous. A free shuttle bus runs every hour into sorrento town and takes about ten minutes. The last bus back is 1115pm from town to the hotel. Taxis are extremely expensive so if you miss the last bus back it will cost about €30 Breakfast was lovely with lots of hot and cold choices, various cheeses, bread yoghurts, waffles and pancakes and a good selection at a gluten free table. Evening meals were always delicious Traditional Italian food. Only thing we missed was potatoes which weren't served with meat, it was salads and usually carrots! The outdoor pool area was lovely and the pool was heated so although it was early season, we could still take a dip in the pool. The rooms were very spacious with huge queen size bed, wardrobe with lots of hanging space and a free safety deposit. A fridge with mini bar and hairdryer. Evening entertainment was okay but not our thing and aimed at older guests. There was a good selection of drinks and cocktails and the house wine was lovely and very reasonable at €13 and bottle! Our room was cleaned daily and fresh towels whenever needed. We stayed over the Easter weekend and the maid surprised us with a huge chocolate Easter egg on Easter Sunday which was a lovely touch! The only negative about the hotel was you sign for your drinks and they charge them to your room and you pay what you owe when you check out! We don't like this practice so we asked to pay our bill half way through our stay so we knew how much we owed. It turned out someone had ordered drinks and charged them to our room number, the reception staff investigated it and removed the cocktails from our bill that we hadn't had as they checked the signatures! I recommend they ask your surname when ordering drinks and not just your room number! Just be aware when ordering drinks. We had a fabulous stay and will definitely be back again!

Fantastic Service

Just returned from a great week at La Solara Hotel. The hotel is located a short distance outside Sorrento which suited us well and we took advantage of the regular and prompt shuttle service which runs throughout the day and evening. The hotel is spotless and has a lovely pool area, plenty of sun beds and a life guard on duty. Food was excellent but what sets this hotel apart is its staff who provide friendly, efficient and attentive service. A big thank you to Dima and Giuseppe for mixing some great cocktails before dinner and to Marcello, Nino, Emmanuele and team in the restaurant who work non stop from early to late and still found time to chat. This was our first time to this part of Italy and we really appreciate how everyone helped make it feel so special.
