Hard to reach not the best place to stay

Be warned if you are a solo traveller this hotel is not easy to reach and very difficult if you arrive at the port. I took the ferry from Positano presuming the hotel would be easy to reach as I told it was 1.8 k’s from the city centre true but on a hill. They have free transfers and said they would pick me up if I arrived before the time they allocate and I stood waiting in the road for them to arrive. It took me hours to reach the hotel lugging my bags through town. There’s local bus but maybe goes every 30-60mins? There’s no way you can reach then other then to call. This place is set up for tour groups people who would be picked up. They quickly sell you a tour to Capri which comes with extra payment for a tour once you get to Capri not mandatory but easier than taking public transport. The hotel did try and help me but a ticket for Herculean but not for Pompei and I was told I could leave my luggage in the train station not true I had to lug my luggage to the site. For the price would not recommend it. There are great views from the hotel roof

Run away from this hotel, especially if you are disabled.

Good evening, here is a fresh review from today. I arrived this afternoon at Johanna, and I should mention that I booked last weekend when I stayed there. In the late afternoon, I received a strange phone call asking if I was confirming my presence. I walk with a crutch; I have a spinal collapse. I arrived there, and they told me they had mistakenly occupied my room with a person in a wheelchair; I had to go to the annex. In response to my complaints, the only thing they could say was: "... well, I know..." without finding any other solutions and forcing me to return home. At that point, I vented to them, saying that I thought I chose Johanna because it was the most beautiful hotel; you are greatly mistaken, but only for the convenience of my current health. Old rooms, musty smell, ants, everything very outdated; if you offer these small dishes to loyal and sick customers, it would be better to close down. I strongly advise against it; stay away.

A stay we would remember - for all the wrong reasons

I stayed at Johanna Park Hotel in Sorrento and, unfortunately, the experience didn’t match its self-proclaimed 4-star rating. I would place it closer to 4 out of 20. The property is in dire need of refurbishment. Much of the décor looks frozen in the 1950s, and not in a charming, vintage way. Several pieces of furniture were worn, unstable, or falling apart, which made the room feel tired and poorly maintained. The biggest disappointment was the pool, which had clearly not been properly cared for. The water was green with visible algae, making it unusable and giving a very poor first impression of upkeep and hygiene. The staff were polite, but overall the facilities and condition of the hotel fell far below what you would expect from a 4-star property, especially in a destination like Sorrento. Location-wise, it wasn’t ideal either. The hotel sits far enough from town that getting anywhere required relying on a personal shuttle service run by hotel staff. While they tried to be helpful, it made simple outings inconvenient and limited flexibility compared to staying closer to Sorrento’s centre. A refresh, proper maintenance, and some modernisation would go a long way — but as it stands, I can’t recommend it.
