Adequate but unremarkable

Very central location, but photos on website are misleading, as it doesn’t look clean, charming, and yellow, like the pictures show. The address is hard to find, and the signage by the stairs leading up to the hotel are difficult to read. There is no awning over the front door, and the walkway to the door is broken up and dirty. Once inside, the office is one flight up, and being a small hotel, it is not staffed 24/7. The receptionist was certainly friendly, but her English was limited. She informed us upon arrival, that due to some government “regulations”, they are no longer able to serve breakfast. She gave us coupons to a café down the road where we were allowed one coffee and croissant each. (no area to sit down there) Our room was basic but clean; daily maid service was well done. The mattress was comfortable, but the bedding was not great, as the bottom sheet didn’t fit the mattress properly, and the blankets were too thin for March. Soundproofing between our room and the next was quite poor. (During the night, I could hear the guest next door urinating and flushing) Overall, an adequate place to stay, but I would certainly choose a different hotel if I ever came back.

Central location with walking distance to the railway station. OK condition. Innovative lift for luggage only, no elevator. Booked with breakfast that was cancelled by the hotel upon arrival.

We stayed at Palazo Starace 23/10 - 02/11, staying in Sorrento as a base to venture out from. Perfect central position. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Mikel. A real nice, genuine guy! Everything was explained and very simple to follow. As the guest house is not manned 24/7 , communication was via WhatsApp. Any questions, information or room issues were replied to promptly, always pleased to assist. We had the family room , which was exactly 70 steps up...great excercise! The room had a balcony which overlooked the forever bustling Corso Italia. The room was spacious, clean and a little basic, but that is not a bad thing. The beds were a little too hard for us, but it wasn't a spoiler, we all love our own beds! Everyday we had the room cleaned, even when we made our beds, we had our beds made up. We loved the care they showed for their residents. We unfortunately did not capture the name of the cleaning lady, but she was so lovely. Alessandra was another face of Palazzo Starace. Always greeted with a warm lovely smile and again, always pleased to help and advice when needed. Breakfast was great. Catering for the varying nationalities residing. Lovely coffees. Just get what you want, eat and leave. We asked for a slightly early breakfast one day as we had a tour booked. There was no problem with this at all. And as usual, greeted into the breakfast area with smiles and food ready. This is was greatly appreciated and great customer service. In a nutshell, Palazzo Starace, Mikel, Alessandra and all the staff were, for us, warm, smiley and welcoming. It was like you were part of their extended family. I grew to like them and their friendliness. Thank you Team Starace! you made our stay in Sorrento a lovely stay. We'll be back!

Nice location, but not quiet and needs updating

This is a very cute bed and breakfast with great staff. The breakfast was really good. The rooms are cute with a balcony overlooking the street, which gives a great view for watching the action. However, it also gets rather loud at night. My biggest complaint was that our shower had no door and the drain did not drain, so our bathroom flooded completely every day. We had to put down all of our towels each day after showering just to try to soak it up. Rooms need renovation. Location is great though.
