Inexpensive and right in the center of Sorrento, just steps from the waterfront, the Ulisse Deluxe Hostel is much more than just a haven for backpackers. It's the perfect fit for travellers who want to enjoy a holiday in Sorrento without blowing their entire budget.

Rooms for All Budgets

With 50 rooms including doubles, triples, quadruples, and dorms, the Ulisse suits every kind of traveller. All rooms are comfortable and spacious, functionally furnished, with private bathrooms, sand-colored floors and a bathtub.

Air conditioning, minibar, free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen satellite TV come standard. A cot can be added on request in standard and family rooms. The Family room has two separate sleeping areas, each with its own door and bathroom. Dorm rooms, split by gender, sleep up to six guests and have a bathroom with a tub.

Each morning, a buffet breakfast with sweet and savory options is served in the Le Sirene dining room.

Spa and fitness center: at the Ulisse, guests don't have to give up any amenities! A 2,500-square-meter wellness area spread over four floors, with a thermal pool, hydromassage, chromotherapy, a steam cave, a Finnish sauna and an ice cave. The fitness center offers Technogym equipment, yoga and spinning classes, plus an indoor pool for free swimming.

Dishes to Learn and Sample

All the most traditional dishes from Sorrento and southern Italy are served at the Ristorante dell'Ulisse. In the large professional kitchen, chef-led cooking classes reveal the secrets of the region's best recipes, sampled together at the end.

Our experience at this property was decidedly negative. In the morning, before 8:00 AM, we were woken up by loud construction noises, so close that even the bed was vibrating. An unsustainable situation, especially considering that a couple of friends just ten rooms away did not hear anything: a clear sign that our room was absolutely not suitable to host guests at that time. The worst part, however, came with the handling of the problem. When I reported the inconvenience to the reception, I was told that "it was probably some guest leaving." Dismissing vibrations and construction noise in this way is almost offensive to the customer's intelligence. No real apology and, obviously, no mention of a refund or a discount for the inconvenience. We will not return.

What I was shown online was misleading. The room was tiny for two people and the bathroom was terrible with a poorly designed shower making water go everywhere. I don’t think what I paid was worth what I got, also given there is no communal kitchen or laundry and you have to pay extra for the facilities offered. The only positive was the location close to Sorrento main centre. In summary, it is not a “hostel” despite what they claim. It’s a hotel wanting more money for solo backpackers.

We loved the location, size, and cleanliness of our rooms. We paid for the breakfast one morning, and it was not worth it - while there was a good variety, the food and drink quality was lacking.
