The tourist season truly begins with the first days of April: there are more ferry routes to Capri and ferries to Positano and Amalfi and boat tours to the island and coast start running again. You won't be able to take a dip yet during your boat tour, however, as the sea temperature in April is still too cold!

In April, the weather is beginning to be more pleasant: temperatures rise and rainy days are more rare. The sea is still too cold to swim, unless you are particularly hearty! That said, beach restaurants and cafés open for the season in April, so you can have lunch or a drink in the warm spring sun on the water's edge this month.

Traffic alert: during Easter weekend and the days around the 25 April and 1 May bank holidays, the roads along the Sorrentine Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast are completely clogged with heavy holiday traffic. We strongly suggest avoiding driving or taking the bus during these times!
