In January, expect rain and cold winds in Sorrento, though you can certainly get warmer, sunny days. In general, the weather on the coast is what you would expect in winter during the months of January and February. Very few tourists visit during this time of year, and many locals take advantage of these slower months to go on holiday in warmer climes themselves! You'll find quite a few hotels, restaurants, and other businesses close until the season pick back up in March.
